Drafts posts in your brand voice, schedules them and replies to messages. You only approve what goes out.

- The AI prepares drafts in your brand voice and you approve before anything goes live.
- Automatic scheduling on Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn and TikTok from one calendar.
- Direct message replies and comment moderation, with handover to a person.
- A weekly report shows what worked and proposes next week's posts.

## What can an AI social media manager automate?

Almost all the operational work. What you should not automate is judgment: what you want to say, what you would never post and when a topic is too sensitive for generated text.

In the projects we build, the AI handles these tasks:

- **Ideas and calendar**: proposes topics from your blog, products, key dates and what has performed best.
- **Drafts**: writes posts adapted to each network, with your vocabulary and style rules.
- **Images and video**: generates creatives from Canva templates or resizes formats for stories and reels.
- **Scheduling**: publishes through Buffer, Metricool or directly via the Meta API once you approve.
- **Messages and comments**: answers frequent questions by DM, hides spam and alerts you to what needs a person.
- **Reports**: summarises reach, engagement and clicks, and suggests what to repeat.

## Why is there a human approval step?

Because AI writes well but does not know the context you know: a recent customer complaint, a product that sold out, or news that makes a joke inappropriate. A post published under your brand is hard to take back.

So every draft lands on a board (Notion, Airtable, Slack or a spreadsheet) where you approve, edit or discard with one click. Only approved posts enter the publishing queue. Over time, your corrections feed back into the instructions and drafts need fewer edits.

## How do you automate Instagram without risking the account?

To automate Instagram we use Meta's official API (the Instagram Graph API) with a professional account, business or creator. It lets you publish posts, carousels and reels, read comments and reply to direct messages within Meta's rules.

We do not use bots that pretend to be a person liking posts or following accounts: they break Instagram's terms and usually end in restrictions. If you want an AI agent to answer DMs with access to your catalog or calendar, we treat it like a [WhatsApp AI agent](/en/use-cases/whatsapp-ai-agent): clear rules and handover to a person.

## Example: a cosmetics online store with one person in marketing

A natural cosmetics ecommerce store posts three times a week on Instagram and twice on LinkedIn, and one person does it all while also running email and the website. Every week she loses a full day writing, designing and scheduling.

The workflow we propose starts on Monday: n8n reads featured products from Shopify and the latest blog posts, and a language model proposes five posts with copy, hashtags and the visual idea. Canva fills the brand templates with the product photo. Everything lands on a Notion board. The marketing lead reviews in 20-30 minutes, changes two sentences and approves. Posts are scheduled in Metricool at the best times. During the week, an agent answers DMs about ingredients and shipping, and on Friday a report arrives with the three best-performing posts. ## Process

1. **We define voice and rules**: We gather your best posts, words you use and avoid, and off-limits topics, and turn them into a guide the AI follows.
2. **We connect the sources**: Blog, catalog, commercial calendar and past metrics feed each week's ideas.
3. **We build the production line**: Drafts per network, creatives from your templates and an approval board.
4. **We automate publishing and replies**: Scheduling after approval, replies to frequent DMs and comment moderation with alerts.
5. **Report and tuning**: Every week we measure results and adjust instructions with your corrections.

- less time spent writing and scheduling: 60-80%
- of weekly review to approve content: 20-40 min
- response time to frequent direct messages: < 5 min

Typical ranges in social media automation projects; they depend on post volume, number of networks and how much you edit the drafts.

## FAQ

### How much does social media automation with AI cost?

A content workflow with approval and scheduling is budgeted per phase with a fixed price agreed before we start. If you add an agent that answers direct messages with access to your catalog or calendar, the scope grows. AI usage and scheduling tools are paid directly to their providers.

### Can the AI post on its own without my review?

Technically yes, but we don't recommend it for brand content. What can go out without review is very repetitive, low-risk posting, such as opening-hours notices or new-product announcements from closed templates.

### Is AI-generated social media content obvious?

It shows when the text is generic. That is why we train the instructions on your real posts, ban the typical filler phrases and keep your review in the loop. Your own photos and videos still outperform generated images.

### Which social networks can be automated?

Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok, X, Pinterest and YouTube all have APIs or integrations with scheduling tools. Each network has limits: for example, some TikTok or LinkedIn features require business accounts or developer approval.

### What is the difference between this and using Metricool or Buffer?

Metricool and Buffer schedule what you have already created. We automate what happens before (ideas, copy, images) and after (replies, reports), and connect it to your data. We use those tools as one piece of the workflow.

### Is an AI social media manager better than hiring a freelancer?

They do different jobs. A freelancer brings taste, strategy and original content; the AI handles volume, formatting and reporting at a fixed low cost. Many teams keep a person for direction and use the automation to remove the repetitive hours.
